Propanthiol (Propylmercaptan) is a transparent liquid with a sharp characteristic unpleasant odor. Slightly soluble in water.
Propanthiol has an organic compound with the molecular formula C3H8S. It is moderately toxic and less dense than water. Highly flammable and releases irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire. Heating it will cause an increase in pressure with the risk of rupture. Propanthiol is used as an odorant for domestic, liquefied gas, chemical reagent. Used as a chemical intermediate and herbicide.
